Notes on loss

At 23.01 and 23.02 hours on 7 Sep, 1942, U-517 fired torpedoes at the convoy QS-33 south of Anticosti Island and sank the Mount Pindus, Oakton and Mount Taygetus.

The Oakton (Master Alfred Edward Brown) sank within two minutes. Three crew members were lost. The master and 16 crew members were picked up by the Canadian motor launch HMCS Q-083.
